Chief Spokesperson at the President's Office, Heena Waleed, has stated that maintaining the safety and security of the streets of the Maldives, including Male', is a top priority for President Dr Mohamed Muizzu. She made these remarks during a press conference held at the President's Office on Wednesday. The Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed also joined the press conference.
Heena Waleed emphasised the President's strong commitment to road safety, referencing a recent post on the social media platform 'X' that clearly articulated the significance of ensuring safe and secure roadways. She expressed confidence in finding solutions, as the President has directed relevant authorities to implement eight specific measures in response to recent incidents. These measures include increasing Police personnel on the streets, enhancing monitoring activities, and extending these initiatives to islands. Furthermore, Heena stressed the importance of adhering to existing laws and regulations regarding road safety and urged the public to take personal responsibility for their safety.
At today’s press conference, Minister Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed provided an update on the Ministry's key initiatives and ongoing initiatives. He underscored the significance of preserving the religious unity and integrity of the Maldives, as emphasized in the Government's manifesto. The Minister outlined key efforts, including the construction and maintenance of mosques, the development of the Maldives Hajj Corporation, and various Waqf projects. Furthermore, he highlighted the successful translation of Islamic studies texts and the establishment of the Zakat House in the Maldives.
