President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with members of the Maafaru Island Council, the Women’s Development Committee (WDC), and heads of several local institutions to discuss the island’s most pressing development needs.

The meeting took place at the Maafaru branch of Fenaka Corporation.

During the discussions, the Council members raised key concerns, including the need to resolve ongoing electricity issues. They also highlighted the importance of strengthening the island’s health and education sectors. In addition, issues related to Maafaru’s international airport and harbour were brought forward, with particular emphasis on the need to enhance the airport terminal.

The President, accompanied by Cabinet Ministers and senior officials from key Government institutions, shared updates on development projects underway in Maafaru and outlined the Administration’s efforts to address the concerns raised by the community.

Earlier, the President attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Maafaru Police Station, officiated by the Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihusaan.
