President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has assured that key development projects requested by the residents of N. Lhohi will commence soon and be successfully completed.
The President made this statement during his visit to N. Lhohi this morning, as the final stop of his ongoing tour of the inhabited islands in South Miladhunmadulu Atoll. During the visit, he met with residents and pledged that the Government would address the concerns raised by the community.
Referring to the ongoing harbour project, the President acknowledged the challenges of ensuring year-round usability. He reaffirmed that, based on technical assessments and community input, the harbour would be completed to a standard that guarantees long-term resilience and functionality.
President Dr Muizzu also revealed that several development project agreements across the country are expected to be signed shortly, with implementation to begin in the near future. He confirmed that the contract for the construction of the N. Lhohi Health Centre, designed to deliver comprehensive healthcare services, will be awarded this year, with work to commence before year-end.
In response to concerns over the space constraints at the island’s school, the President pledged that construction of a fully equipped school building will begin next year to meet the island’s educational requirements.
Addressing developments in the island’s sports infrastructure, the President highlighted the inauguration of a new Fitness and Recreation Centre and Outdoor Gym. He added that the football field development project will include the installation of floodlights to allow for night matches, along with the construction of a volleyball court.
In conclusion, President Dr Muizzu announced that physical work on the development of an international-standard surfing area and a road development project in N. Lhohi will begin soon. He reiterated the Administration’s strong commitment to supporting the island’s development goals.
