His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has condemned the Israeli attack on Qatar, describing it as a violation of Qatari sovereignty and a brazen assault on the dignity of the entire Arab and Islamic world.

Addressing the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha today, President Dr Muizzu called the assault a crime against humanity and a direct attack on peace itself. He stressed that Qatar, a central mediator for peace in Gaza, deserves recognition rather than punishment, and warned that by striking Doha, Israel seeks to undermine peace efforts and destabilise the region.

The President framed the aggression as part of a wider pattern of Israeli violations, including the occupation of Palestinian lands, denial of humanitarian access, and the targeting of civilians, doctors, and journalists. He condemned the double standards that shield Israel from accountability, insisting that international law must be applied equally to all nations.

Affirming that no nation in the Ummah should face aggression alone, the President reiterated the Maldivian people’s solidarity with the government and people of Qatar.

President Dr Muizzu urged that Israeli leaders be held accountable for war crimes through coordinated political, economic, and diplomatic measures. He further called for immediate humanitarian aid to Gaza and the West Bank.

Emphasising that words alone cannot stop bombs or rebuild shattered lives, the President insisted that the world must choose between law and lawlessness, justice and injustice, peace and terror.
The Maldives has consistently reaffirmed its commitment to defending human dignity, justice, and the right to live free from oppression and occupation.

President Dr Muizzu is currently in Qatar to attend the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit, convened in response to the Israeli attack on Doha on 9 September. The summit brings together leaders of OIC Member States to collectively call for an end to Israel’s ongoing atrocities and to press for decisive international action to restore peace and stability in the region.
