His Excellency Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef departed for Doha, Qatar, on Monday evening, on an official visit to attend the ‘Second World Summit for Social Development (WSSD2)’.
WSSD2 aims to bring together global leaders to hold high-level discussions on advancing social development, poverty eradication, full and productive employment, and social inclusion, in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Convened under the auspices of the United Nations General Assembly, this year’s Summit will take place from 4th to 6th November 2025 in Doha, Qatar. The previous World Summit for Social Development was held in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1995.
During the visit, the Vice President will attend the opening ceremony of the Summit and deliver a statement at the plenary meetings.
