The Ambassador of the Republic of Djibouti to the Maldives, His Excellency Issé Abdillahi Assoweh presented his Letters of Credence to the President, His Excellency Dr Mohamed Muizzu at a ceremony held on Monday morning at the President's Office.

The Ambassador was escorted to the President’s Office from the Republic Square in a cultural procession “Haiykolhu” with MNDF Drum and Trumpet Band.

The Ambassador presented his Letters of Credence to the President, who accepted it and welcomed him as the Ambassador of Djibouti to the Maldives.

Following the presentation, the President and the Ambassador discussed areas of cooperation. These included strengthening bilateral cooperation, advancing the tourism industry, and preventing piracy. The President noted that the Ambassador is Djibouti's first non-resident Ambassador to the Maldives.

Diplomatic Relations between Maldives and Djibouti was established on April 7, 2008.
