President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that Sh. Feydhoo's education infrastructure will receive the highest development priority, with the island's long-stalled school project set to resume imminently.
During a meeting with Feydhoo residents this morning, President Dr Muizzu confirmed that the school development project, including the multipurpose hall and classroom facilities, which had been delayed for approximately two years, will commence within a short timeframe following his current tour.
The President acknowledged recent efforts to advance the project within existing contractual arrangements but deemed the pace of this approach unsatisfactory. He assured that work would now proceed with maximum priority and at full capacity.
Residents were briefed on development progress encompassing multiple sectors. In this regard, the President noted that infrastructure projects including a beach access area, coastal protection works, harbour development and road construction will be implemented in an integrated fashion.
Two key agreements were also formalised at today's meeting: the coastal protection initiative and the road modernisation programme, both characterised by President Dr Muizzu as essential to the community's wellbeing.
He further revealed health sector developments including the establishment of 24-hour services at the Health Centre, with staffing arrangements and extension building plans to be finalised within a matter of days.
President Dr Muizzu also announced that sports facilities will be enhanced through a new handball court this year, alongside improvements to existing futsal and football pitches. In addition, he said there are plans to relocate the powerhouse.
The President confirmed Feydhoo's inclusion in this year's Police Station establishment programme, part of nationwide efforts to provide law enforcement services across all inhabited islands. Additionally, the island features on the list of locations receiving new Council Secretariats through Chinese grant assistance.
President Dr Muizzu concluded by emphasising that extensive consultations with residents during his visit will inform how Feydhoo's development agenda is shaped and implemented going forward, in line with their sentiments and aspirations.
