President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with members of the Lh. Hinnavaru Island Council, the Women’s Development Committee (WDC), and heads of local institutions to review the island’s key development priorities. The meeting was held at Hinnavaru School as part of the President’s ongoing tour of Faadhippolhu.
Council members outlined the island’s main developmental concerns, including delays in several infrastructure projects. They urged the expedited completion of the hospital and housing projects, as well as the remaining works of the island’s road development initiative. The council also shared plans to allocate land plots for residential and commercial purposes, emphasising the need to provide essential utility services to the reclaimed area. Additionally, members advocated for the operationalisation of the island’s harbour, noting its potential to boost local economic activity.
The WDC requested the construction of an extension building to accommodate the local preschool, while the council also proposed the development of a swimming track to improve recreational facilities on the island.
President Dr Muizzu assured attendees that the concerns raised would be duly addressed. He was accompanied by Cabinet ministers and senior officials from State-Owned Enterprises, who provided updates on the progress of ongoing development projects.
