President Dr Mohamed Muizzu met with members of the Sh. Bileiyfahi Island Council, the Women’s Development Committee, and heads of local institutions to discuss the island’s key development priorities. The meeting was held at the Secretariat of the Bileiyfahi Council.

During the meeting, council members raised the concerns of island residents and called for the expedited completion of stalled projects. In this regard, they highlighted the need to develop the water and sewerage system and harbour upgrades. The council also emphasised the importance of implementing permanent solutions for the harbour channel and addressing coastal erosion through appropriate shore protection measures.

Discussions further covered the need to expand the multipurpose hall and construct additional classrooms at the school. The council requested extending the health centre’s operating hours to 16 hours and finding lasting solutions for water, sewerage, and electricity issues in newly populated areas. They also underlined the need for a proper waste management centre and the completion of the airport development during the current administration.

The Women’s Development Committee emphasised the importance of having a dedicated workspace and highlighted the need for an indoor gym for women.

President Dr Muizzu assured participants that the Government would give due consideration to their concerns. He was accompanied by Cabinet ministers and senior officials from State-Owned Enterprises, who also provided updates on ongoing development projects.
