President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on Monday underscored his resolve to ensure that the benefits of national development reach all citizens. He affirmed that his Administration will continue to prioritise impactful development efforts, expressing confidence in moving forward without hesitation or concern.

He made the remarks while addressing residents of Sh. Bileiyfahi during his ongoing visit to the inhabited islands of North Miladhunmadulu Atoll.

Expressing confidence in the Administration’s ability to complete all developmental projects across the islands, the President reiterated that the Government is actively working towards economic recovery, focusing on reducing both domestic and foreign debt, engaging with international partners for debt restructuring, and ensuring that the resulting relief is felt by the people.

The President stated that the Administration’s strategic efforts are progressing positively, positioning the Government to meet the 2026 Sukuk repayment with confidence and without concern. He stressed that each of these efforts is aimed at delivering meaningful development that directly benefits the people.

Emphasising the positive trajectory of the country’s financial reserve, the President stated that the Administration’s strategic efforts had enabled it to settle debts ahead of schedule.

The President also highlighted his Administration’s efforts to meaningfully empower the public. He stated that true decentralisation cannot be achieved through a Malé-centric approach, emphasising that his ongoing visits to the islands reflect a shift towards genuine decentralisation, one that involves direct engagement with communities and listening to their concerns on the ground.

The President urged all citizens to make the most of the opportunities created through the Administration’s efforts to meaningfully empower the people. He added that the wide-ranging reforms being implemented to advance decentralisation are aimed at ensuring that power and progress genuinely reach communities across the nation.
